Zăo Fā Bái Dì Chéng
早 发 白 帝 城

李白Lǐ Bái

zhāo cí bái dì căi yún jiān
朝 辞 白 帝 彩 云 间 ，
qiān lǐ jiāng líng yī rì huán
千 里 江 陵 一 日 还 。
liăng àn yuán shēng tí bù zhù
两 岸 猿 声 啼 不 住 ，
qīng zhōu yǐ guò wàn chóng shān
轻 舟 已 过 万 重 山。

白帝城--- a town in Sichuan Province , 早 and 朝 --- early in the morning , 江陵 ---- a county in Hubei Province , 发 ---- start , 辞 ---- say good bye , 彩云 --- colorful clouds , 间 --- among , 里---- Chinese length measurement , equal to half of a kilometer. 还 --- return ( home) , 岸 -- river bank , 猿 --- ape, monkey , 声 ---- sound , 啼 —— crow , 不住 ---- continuously , 轻 --- light , 舟 ---- boat , 已 --- already , 过----- pass , get through , 千，万 ---- thousand and ten thousand , 重 --- quantifier for layers and layers of mountains , 山 ---- mountain

To say good bye to the 白帝城 early morning among the colorful clouds. It takes only one day to be able to get home ( 江陵）thousand Li away . With the continously crowing of monkeys on both banks of the river, the samll boat has got through thousands of mountains.

李白 wrote this poem on the way home when he was released during his exile. The poem expresses 李白's easiest feeling and vigour of the Yangtse River ( 长江 ） by her down flowing streams.
